On your arrival in Ahmedabad, India, you will be met by our representative, who will assist you to your hotel and brief you about your tour. After handing over all relevant documents and details of your tour, our assistant will leave you to enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.
Start your tour by visiting the Calico Museum of Textiles. Known as India’s leading specialised museum, it is said to have a comprehensive and distinguished collection of artefacts and textiles. After a brief visit there, explore the Shreyas Museum of folk art collections. Later in the evening, enjoy a traditional Gujarati dinner with an entertainment show at Vishala Village Restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After taking breakfast in Ahmedabad, proceed to Gondal, a princely town of considerable importance and affluence. On arrival, check into the hotel and after taking some rest, visit the Navlakha Palace, which houses the erstwhile ruling family’s private collection of beadwork, textiles, brassware, hand-painted toys and silver crafts. Other tourist attractions include the centre promoting weaving in Gondal and the city’s historic buildings. Overnight stay will remain scheduled at the Gondal Palace.
Post-breakfast, drive to Jetpur, famous for its screen- and block-printing workshops and a yam-dyeing centre. After taking a brief visit here, continue your drive to Junagadh, a historic city with 3rd-century BC Buddhist relics, a medieval fort, mausoleum complexes, palaces, and more to explore. On arrival, explore the beauty of gem-encrusted carpets, wardrobes and tapestry of the Nawab at the museums. Later in the evening, return to Gondal. Stay overnight at the Gondal Palace.
Start the day with a delicious breakfast, then pack your bags for the next destination: Jamnagar. En route, visit Rajkot, the city known for its Watson Museum, which features fine examples of Gujarat’s craftsmanship, and Rashtriya Shala, which works to revive hand-weaving. After taking a brief visit to Rajkot, continue your drive to Jamnagar. On arrival, check into the hotel and spend some leisure time. In the evening, visit Vanzas, who are known for their Bandhani (tie-and-dye) sarees. The overnight stay will remain scheduled at the hotel.
After breakfast at your hotel, continue the journey to the next destination, Bhuj. On arrival, check in to the hotel and spend some leisure hours there. In the evening, take a walk to explore the beauty of the local Textiles Market. Stay overnight at the hotel.
After taking breakfast in the hotel, visit the Aina Mahal Museum & Pragmahal Museum. In the afternoon, visit A.A. Wazir’s (National Award Winner Artist) Textiles Museum Shop. The rest of the day is kept free for leisure and shopping. Overnight stay will remain scheduled at the hotel.
Post breakfast, get ready for the excursion to the villages around Bhuj. Known for their distinctive styles of Embroidery, tie-and-dye effects, and other handicrafts such as weaving, Block Printing, and Rogan Painting, these villages offer a true glimpse of artistic India. Return to Bhuj for an overnight stay at the hotel.
On this day of the exotic Gujarat Textile tour, post breakfast, get ready to drive to Bhujodi Village. On arrival, meet the National award-winning artist to see how they do traditional weaving and visit the Shurjan Store for shopping. Thereafter, drive to Ashapura Crafts Park, where artisans display their skills and sell their products. Later in the evening, return to Bhuj for your overnight stay in a hotel.
After taking breakfast in Bhuj, proceed to the Little Rann of Kutch. On arrival, check in to the eco-resort, which is designed with local materials and handicrafts to resemble a village. At the resort, witness Rabari women at work on their distinctive embroidery. Overnight stay will remain scheduled at the resort.
On the last day of the tour, after breakfast at the resort, proceed to Patan, an ancient fortified city now known for exquisite double-ikat silk fabrics and Patola silk textiles. Both fabrics are of considerable commercial importance for textile studies. Patola is one of the world’s richest silk textiles, woven using the rare double-ikkat technique.
On arrival, check into the hotel and after taking a brief break, visit some Patola Silk Weavers to witness some firsthand experience of their weaving techniques. After taking a brief tour here, proceed to Ahmedabad. On arrival, check into the hotel and spend the night in Ahmedabad.
