Once the proud capital of the Vijaya Nagar Empire, Hampi was once considered even grander than Rome, with palaces, temples, and sculptures scattered across its landscape. On a route visit to Aihole, known as the first regional capital of the Chalukyas, the area is considered a cradle of Indian architecture.
